Checking Account:  This account, for the most part will remain around $500, after everything hits.

Emergency Fund:  +$250  I saved what I budgeted to save, minus some unplanned spending.  This kinda sucks because I budget saving about $1,500 every month, but something “un-budgeted” hits and I go to my savings account and grab money.  I think I need to work on my budget and add some new categories like car repairs, or kids school supplies and stuff like that that seems to come up every month.

TD Ameritrade Account:  +$33  I haven’t made any purchases since April and I sold off everything except my position in Ford and surprisingly, (F) is on its way up a little after hitting a pretty low low recently.  I was hoping it was going to go a little lower and I was planning on doubling my position, but it has been gaining some (slow) traction.

Simple IRA:  -$485 – No more payroll additions here as we switched to a 401(k) plan.  The market went down quite a bit in the past couple days.

401(k):  +$152 – So, with bumping my contribution to 15% recently, you’d think this would show more than +$152, but with the market dropping, the overall account value is lower.

Cars:  Nothing new here.

Bank Visa:   – Done, Debt Free

Overall – This is my first overall loss since I started writing about my Net Worth a year ago.  It’s not a bad drop, but it’s still a loss.

  1. Hopefully, the net worth will be moving in the right direction again soon Brian. But, as you said, thankfully it wasn't a bad loss.

    1. Not a bad loss at all. If I'd quit spending my savings, it wouldn't even be a loss!!!!!

  2. Think about how much the market decreased, causing your market value to decrease. It'll come back and you'll receive the benefit in a future month. Unless you are planning on liquidating, it wouldn't concern me. Not a bad idea earmarking some of your savings account. Does your bank let you open up multiple accounts or even classify funds differently online?

    1. Yeah, it was a decent decrease, and only in the last couple days of October. I don't plan to liquidate anything right now, so I'm not too worried about it. I do need to get that savings account in order and more wisely use all the accounts I already have set up at my bank.
