Net Worth Update - FEB 2018 - $19,820 (+$2,440)

Here it is folks, my February Net Worth Update.  February has been just as crazy as January, but on different fronts.  My main hassle is February has been my beater vehicles.  Like I mentioned in my January update, the BMW has been sitting in my garage waiting for a new transmission.  The “new” (junk yard) transmission has been sitting next to it for pretty much the whole month of Feb.  I was giving them ample time to get acquainted with one another!!! LOL.  Really, I’ve been lazy and it’s been cold and/or rainy out the entire month.  Since the BMW has been out, I’ve been using the Land Cruiser as my daily driver.  Well, Mr. cranky buttface land cruiser has decided it much rather likes being just a weekender and has been running like shit for daily driving and I’ve been chasing hard-start issues for a while now.  It’s left me stranded a few times this month and I’ve been secretly thinking about selling it once I get all the bugs worked out.  So, while working on the cruiser and sporadically working on the BMW, and with my teen driving the GMC pickup out of state for school, I’ve been looking for another beater pickup to use as a daily driver/yard truck, and also something I can pull behind the RV if needed.  I found a 1995 Toyota T100 pickup with 147k miles on it with a price I couldn’t pass up.  It’s a basic single cab 2wd truck with a 4-cylinder engine and hand crank windows (anyone remember these)!!!!  Anyway, I was able to pick it up for a whopping $1200.  KBB private party good condition has its’ value at $2000, so I’m happy about the purchase and it will fit my current needs just fine.

Here are my February numbers.

Checking Account:  This account, for the most part will remain around $500, after everything hits.

Emergency Fund:  +$450 +$800 -$1200 +$50  I started out putting $1,250 in here, but had to dip in for my “new” daily driver.

TD Ameritrade Account:  +$38  I made a purchase with my 2/2 paycheck, but didn’t with my 2/16 paycheck as that’s around the time I made the decision to find a new used car.  I also realized some losses due to market fluctuations.

Simple IRA:  -$86 – No more payroll additions here as we switched to a 401(k) plan.  The market went down, my balance went down.

401(k):  +$438 – Payroll additions plus Company Match plus minimal growth.

Cars:  +$2,000  The addition of the new daily driver brought my car balance up a little.  These values pretty much remain the same (KBB and Craigslist).  They have all but stopped depreciating.  These suckas be old.

Bank Visa:   – Done, Debt Free

Overall – Despite the crazy market and my spending, I had a pretty decent month.  Barring the additional value in the new truck, I still managed to increase my net worth by about $1,600 this month.  Since the truck has a little built in value, my overall positive change is $2,440.  I'm still moving in the right direction and love the progress I’m making.

How was your February?  How do you think I'm doing?  Do you see, or can you recommend some areas I should concentrate on to see better growth?
