Purchase #8 – you guessed it, MORE (F) Ford

Purchase #8 – you guessed it, MORE (F) Ford

I purchased 9 more shares of (F) Friday night at $12.05 per share.  Honestly, I didn’t even know I could do such a thing.  I thought trading closed at 4pm.  Here’s how it happened.  Friday was payday and I transferred money to my TD Ameritrade account.  By closing time, the money was still not in the account, so I didn’t have a chance to make my purchase.  Late Friday evening, I noticed the money was there, well kind of there.  It was still pending, but it said it was available for purchases.  I set up a 9 share purchase with a GTC +EXT (Good Til Cancelled plus Extended Trading Hours) order for $12.05 per share thinking it would hit sometime Monday after the market opened, assuming the price dropped to that amount.  Well, a few minutes later after submitting the order Friday night, I was the proud owner of 9 more shares of (F).  I reckon it’s time to learn more about the stock market and after hours trading.

Did y’all know there was such a thing as after hours trading?

  1. I personally think that's a great choice. I already own more than 400 shares of it, and I'd like to buy more, as I think it is extremely undervalued. However nearly 10% of my portfolio is Ford so I need to diversify more.

    1. CD,

Yes. I too think Ford is undervalued and I'm patient to see it grow. I commented about your Ford on your SNA post, but it got booted somehow and had some weird message when I submitted the comment. Maybe it went to your spam folder. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. I think one day I'm going to regret not investing in Ford. The whole notion of fear of missing out (FOMO) is real. Anyway, grats on the purchase Brian. For my next round of purchase, I'll take a second look at Ford.

  3. Ford's one of those stocks that should be priced higher but the market just doesn't want to give it a higher multiple for one reason or another. I swear the stock is perpetually stock in that $11-$13 range that it just swings back and forth in that area. I wonder if it'll ever finally jump up!

  4. There is after hours and pre market trading. But, trading is choppy and not much options in types of trades ... cannot do a trailing stop buy/sell. I think Ford is a good buy

    1. DG,

Thanks for stopping by. I was shocked it went through when it did, but glad it happened. I do like my Ford.

  5. Nice buy. Ford is a stock that a lot of people like to beat down. I hold a few hundred shares. The stock has lost a little value, but the losses have been offset by dividends. I like this as a medium-term play. Self-driving cars are right around the corner and Ford has hooks with the big players in the Silicon Valley. Ford stock could get interesting if they partner with say Tesla, Apple or Google.

I watch after hours markets sometimes but I've never traded off hours.

    1. I like that there's others out here that dip into Ford. That partnering thing could be interesting, but even more interesting is talks of a tech company buying them up period to meld technologies. I'm not sure if Ford execs would ever agree to a sale though. Either way, I hope to add more and more.
